After only using this item one time and having it installed less than one week. The cup holder is heavy and appears to be well made. I used a 20 oz bottle of Mt Dew Zero as the test item. The test was conducted with the side arms adjusted snuggly against the sides of the bottle.1. The bottle fell from the holder 3 times during a 20 minute time period. Once on a tile floor. Once on a carpeted floor. And once in a parking lot with a black top surface. After the test I noticed.1. The holder no longer sat level. The weight of the bottle bent the holder.2. When the item was folded to the up-right storage/closed position the unit had lost its spring leaving the base of the unit sagging open with a 1/2 inch gap near the top.My conclusion:1. The metal bracket is not thick enough to support the weight of a standard drink bottle. Using a heavier gage metal would help lower the vibration.2. The bottom surface where the drink sits is smooth and allows the drink to slide around and bounce out of the recessed area where the drink should sit.3. The spring metal used to hold the item in the up-right position is not spring metal and it is not heavy enough to hold its shape. This item works best when used while the chair is stationary. And I would limit the size of the drink to a 12 oz beverage can or equivalent cup.

Obviously with the “Pride” name attached, this cup holder wasn’t cheap. But it was easy to mount to my wife’s wheelchair “swing-away” joystick holder. Just had to drill a couple of holes to match existing mounting holes – 5 minutes work.Don’t let the Pride name fool you; this can be adapted to any power wheelchair brand.

If you use your wheelchair or power wheelchair on public transportation and the lift is in the front then this is not the right cup holder for you in fact if that is the case no side mounted cup holder is right for you!! Why because when you try to get on and off the bus The fare box Ram’s against your wheelchair tearing the side mounted cup holder completely off !!! What you do need as far as a cup holder goes if you are going to use Public Transportation is what is called a Front Mount Cup Holder !! I know because I speak from personal experience !! I purchased this very cup holder and had it mounted for me and I can’t drive so I use the public transportation and the first bus I got on knocked it loose and the2 nd one completely tore it apart and ripped it right off my power wheelchair !!!
